An experienced colleague commissioned me to write a research grant proposal for him on a fee basis. The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) project, which was in the five-figure range, was approved, but there was no trace of my name. I was even allowed to give a lecture in the project’s context – free of charge, of course. He introduced me to the audience as a lady with an interesting résumé, who had in fact received her doctorate at his institute. But actually, I was a dancer.
