A large final conference of a long-standing post-graduate program which was dominated by male ancient historians (and one female ancient historian). The three-day conference was held in the palatial auditorium of the venerable university. All was very dignified and academic. The presentation schedule will be handled rigidly, so it was announced. It will not be allowed to overrun the time given by only one minute. Well, who was interrupted and very strictly admonished to pay meticulous attention to the time, five minutes before the scheduled end of the presentation? It was the three female speakers but not the 23 male speakers. They, on the other hand, were, at best, kindly reminded after exceeding the time limit to please pay attention to the presentation schedule. The time limit was brought to their mind by holding up a sign with the inscription, “Two minutes!”, which was discreetly facing away from the auditorium in the direction of the speakers …
