A Zoom webinar with international guests. The one-hour format includes two 15-minute presentations followed by a discussion. Six minutes in, the first speaker is not online, so the female moderator and the other speaker agree to begin in reverse order. She, a post doc, presents her latest paper. Her presentation is well executed, her theses are both carefully researched and trenchant. After exactly 15 minutes, her presentation is finished, and she answers questions from the audience. Half an hour into the session, the other speaker, a renowned professor, finally arrives. He apologizes hastily, he had forgotten the time difference. He rubs his eyes and starts telling stories from his life, only touching on the topic of the webinar in passing. In between, he jokes about losing track of time and asks the moderator to keep track for him. Nevertheless, he exceeds the time limit.
